What do you do with a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy named George Leontidis that dates a drug addicted stripper,
gets in drunk bar brawls, assaults several people, attacks a man being held on each arm by two PCSO deputies in uniform, and punches that man so hard in the face that it knocks his head through the plate glass front window of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce?
If you are Pinellas County Sheriff Robert Gualtieri, you promote him, pay him more tax payer money and hand him more deadly weapons and give him the power of life or death over Pinellas County citizens!
agency’s report (AI-15-058) states;
“While intoxicated, you engaged in an affray on the street in downtown Dunedin. Rather than retreating from this situation, you persistently reentered the affray on at least two occasions, challenging, pursuing and physically fighting other intoxicated and involved citizens. You conceded that you were essentially in a “bar room fight” and you admitted you should have gone the other way. You also conceded your intoxication contributed to your refusal to retreat. Once on-duty deputies arrived on the scene and acted to quell the situation, you rushed a subdued subject and punched him in the face. This caused his head to break a window of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce. Punching this subject, at this time was not justified. You caused property damage and personal injury to at least one person. It perpetrated a breach of the peace and, you admitted, brought discredit to the agency.”
That’s what the official investigation found, but HERE is what Sheriff Gualtieri himself authorized to be placed into the final ruling on the matter;
Synopsis: You were intoxicated and became aware of an affray involving another off duty deputy occurring on the street in downtown Dunedin. You admitted that you rook action as a law enforcement officer, identifying yourself as a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy, while you were intoxicated and attempting to assist the on-duty deputies as “back-up” by separating the people in the affray and attempting to subdue an individual.”
Funny how the final report, authorized by Sheriff Bob himself declares Leontidis’s involvement in the bar brawl as “an attempt to assist the on duty deputies as “back-up”! Then go on to to characterize the vicious assault of the already subdued man and smashing his face through a plate glass window as “attempting to subdue an individual”
This report also indicated that Deputy Leontidis was also found guilty of multiple other violations of PCSO policy and law, so much so that he already had “25 points” before this 15 points was added. I requested Deputy Leontidis’s disciplinary records in 2016, but Sheriff Bob said they were so voluminous that he would have to charge me $904 just to get them ready for me to look at them.
Clearly we have a dirty cop that should no longer be wearing a badge being protected, promoted and put in charge of more deadly firepower by Sheriff Robert Gualrieri.
Isn’t it time we drained our own swamp here in Pinellas County, starting with Sheriff Robert Gualtieri?
