As many as 100,000 incarcerated people in our jails and prisons will die from the coronavirus, unless the US acts now

This article perfectly reflects my exact thoughts on this subject. Pinellas County Sheriff Robert Gualtieri has only released a few token inmates to make it LOOK like he is doing something,

THE OUTDATED AND OVERUSED PRACTICE OF ARREST

It may not be surprising how may arrests the Pinellas County Sheriffs make in a single day,

EVERYONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THIS BUT SHERIFF ROBERT GUALTIERI LET MY PEOPLE GO!

Sheriff Gualtieri has the largest coronavirus factory in Pinellas County with 3,500 people behind those walls living in crowded unsanitary conditions.

AS SHERIFF OF PINELLAS COUNTY IN 2020, i WILL DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO RELEASE EVERYONE AND ANYONE HELD ON ONLY A MARIJUANA CHARGE IN PINELLAS COUNTY

Taxpayers are being raped to the tune of over $65,000 per YEAR for EACH inmate to house and incarcerate people over a plant. A THIRD of the Sheriff’s budget is spent on marijuana enforcement. There is a $85,000,000 jail expansion project underway right now to house even MORE offenders.

LESS POLICING EQUALS LESS CRIME

Well what do you know. Less policing and plummeting crime rates. Could it be that all of those people that they would normally be arresting never should have been arrested for the last 30 years?

Barr tells federal prisons to send inmates home in response to coronavirus outbreak

NOW one of the largest proponents of mass incarceration and an opponent of any attempt at prison reform or reduced sentences wants to let thousands of people out of prison immediately.

SHERIFF GUALTIERI’S MASSIVE FAILURES ALREADY APPARENT AT THE JAIL

Sheriff Gualtieri is now complaining that his jails are so full that over 200 inmates are sleeping on the floor as the coronavirus sets its sights on the 3,800 inmates for a massive epidemic. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri sent an email to police chiefs Monday requesting that officers use “good judgment and decision-making” on whether to make an arrest that would result in a jail booking.

PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY FIRED FOR THREATENING TO KILL A NON-VIOLENT INMATE WITH A DEPARTMENT ISSUED KNIFE

Prison guards at the Pinellas County jail are not allowed to carry guns inside the jail for obvious reasons. However, they are given a knife like object with a very sharp curved blade used for cutting like a carpet knife.
